Set on the Lizard peninsula near the Helford River in Cornwall the garden at Caervallack Farm is the creation of an artist and an architect, Louise McLary and Mathew Robinson. Inspired by classic English gardens such as Sissinghurst and Hidcote the garden is divided into distinct areas and features several well positioned sculptures such as John Aulman's yew wood angel and a gleaming, galvanised metal horse. Creative flourishes include contemporary cast concrete steps inset with slate which also work as tiered seating around a barbecue. In midsummer it's a lush paradise of flowers set amidst textured walls of cob, stone and thatch with lots of places to sit and enjoy the tranquillity.
