Set in the heart of the Cotswolds the garden at Bourton House is a contemporary classic of three acres created since 1983 around an eighteenth century Queen Anne house. The garden features an intricate knot garden, an elegant parterre, a topiary walk, a White Garden, a shade house and exotic planting including cacti and succulents which are bedded out into containers during summer. Autumn sees exotics such as cannas, Musa basjoo and Tetrapanax papyrifer 'Rex' filling the borders with strong shapes and colours. The garden is a great balance between formality and exuberance, showing the best of the English garden style and all maintained to the highest standard.
