A small and beautifully formed garden and nursery on the edge of the Lake District created by former GPs Gail and David Sheals. Home to many choice plants including collections of meconopsis and auriculas the garden is as fascinating as a well stocked jewel box in spring as hundreds of varieties of Primula auricula produce their perfect bewitching blooms in a multitude of strange and distinctive colours. A large wooden 'auricula theatre' shows these compelling plants in the traditional way, planted singly in small terracotta pots. This way their detail, the meal or farina on their flowers, can be closely seen and compared.
