A wonderful example of a restored Victorian kitchen garden above the picture-book town of Clovelly on the north Devon coast, Clovelly Court bursts with edible goodies and cut flowers in late summer. Lean-to glasshouses are home to peaches and apricots that flower on bare stems in early spring, producing their fruits in summer amongst melons, cucumbers, aubergines and masses of tomatoes. The walls are covered with espalier, fan and cordon fruit trees, and ornamentals grown include dahlias, sweet peas and clary sage. Delicious!
