Famous Rothschild garden on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire covering 250 acres of land sloping down to the River Beaulieu, full of rhododendrons and azaleas, and an increasingly good selection of trees and shrubs for autumn colour including nyssas and acers. These images were shot on an amazing frosty autumn morning which threw the yew hedges and bold piceas in the formal Sundial garden into pleasing relief, while condemning its dahlias to their last gasp of the season. In the herbaceous borders bold pampas grasses, phormiums and miscanthus mix with smaller sedums, asters, gaura and Japanese anemones.
